All volunteers will be given a volunteer t-shirt to wear during their volunteer shift and water and snacks will be available. Jackets/layers should be worn below the volunteer t-shirt; closed-toed shoes, hats, sunglasses and sunscreen are also recommended.
Lunches or vouchers to redeem at our on-site food vendors will be provided as well. Volunteers for AM shifts should plan to arrive at least 10 minutes early to check-in; volunteers for PM shifts should plan to arrive at least 30 minutes early to allow time to get a lunch if a lunch is desired.
A signed waiver will be required of all volunteers (available electronically during the sign-up process or here). The minimum age to volunteer is 14 (parent/guardian authorization signature on a paper waiver form will be required for those under 18).
The following shifts are available on Friday from 10:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. or 2:00 p.m. until 5:30 p.m.:

Set-Up Assistance

Duties for this shift may include assisting with setting up snow fencing around the race site perimeter; setting up dozens of 10x10 canopies; setting up trash and recycling bins; helping unload race weekend equipment.
The following weekend shifts run from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. or 12:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. each day:

Dock

Manage boats and teams on the dock (2 volunteers per lane). Long periods of standing, securing boats, and assisting paddlers on and off the dragon boats.
Floaters

Stationed at the Command Center. Available to assist and relieve other volunteers as needed (i.e., dock support, marshaling, recycling, etc.).
Marshaling Assistant

Assisting the marshaling official, checking in/out paddles and PFDs. May have periods of sitting.
Timing Tent
NA
Stationed at the Finish Line. Operate back-up stopwatches. May sit for this position.
Runner

Must be in good physical condition - "runs" results from the Timing Tent to the Announcer and the video display after each race.
Race Results Data Entry

Must be good with computers and data entry. Responsible for loading race results into online database immediately after each race. You will sit in the command center (in the shade).
The following weekend shifts run from 7:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., or 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Water & Trash Recycling

Distribute and/or refill drinking water jugs at team tents. Distribute and/or empty trash and recycling bins around the park. Other miscellaneous clean-up tasks. Volunteers must be able to lift a 5 gallon water jug and drive a golf cart.
The following weekend shifts run from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., or 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
